Responsibilities:

* Basic purpose:
* The successful candidate shall conduct and implement experiments in the field, and phytotron on physiological bases of yield potential in intensive irrigated rice system by following experimental and laboratory protocols.

* Major responsibilities:
* 1. Coordinate and manage research activities to facilitate implementation of experiments and increase work efficiency.
* 2. Supervise and coordinate plant samplings at key growth stages and harvesting activities to generate data on growth, tillering, and yield following standard protocols.
* 3. Analyze total carbohydrates and tissue nitrogen concentration using microKjehdahl digestion and distillation method with minimal supervision.
* 4. Analyze data and prepare results using statistical and software packages for presentation in local scientific meetings.
* 5. Coordinate with secretary in procuring experimental and laboratory supplies to ensure that these are readily available when needed.
* 6. Provide technical assistance to scholars on operation and proper use of physiological equipment and laboratory techniques for use in their thesis research.
* 7. Take charge of the maintenance of work area, laboratory, and chemical room, and updating of chemicals inventory.

Requirements:

* Qualification requirements:
* Minimum education : BS/MS degree in Agronomy, Physiology or related fields
* Experience required : 2-3 years relevant work experience; experience in field and greenhouse experimentation desirable
* Skills and abilities : Knowledge in experimental design and data analysis; skilled in agronomic and physiological measurements; skilled in using spectrophotometer, total carbohydrates analysis; routine analysis of total nitrogen by microKjeldahl distillation, growing rice in culture solution; proficiency in use of computer software packages such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint; experience in minor troubleshooting of computer and other laboratory equipment; excellent written and oral communication skills; good personnel management and interpersonal skills
